Do you own shares that are not worth keeping but not worth selling either?
Many people have small amounts of shares that are worth very little. Selling them and paying stockbrokers’ fees can cost more than they are worth, but keeping them has ongoing tax implications. ShareGift, a scheme run by registered charity, The Orr Mackintosh Foundation, offers a solution that puts your unwanted shares to good use.
All you have to do is send your share certificates to the Foundation which aggregates them, sells them and then gives the proceeds to a number of UK charities, including The John Charnley Trust.
